Large-Scale Event Organizers Urged to Pay Attention to This

The Jakarta Transportation Agency apologized to the public for the traffic disruption that occurred on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, during a music performance that was estimated to be attended by around 10,000 participants on Sunday (5/31) evening.

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaludin said the provincial government supports various community and economic activities taking place in Jakarta. However, any activity that has the potential to increase traffic needs to be coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure public mobility is maintained.

"We apologize to the public affected by the congestion and traffic disruption in the HR Rasuna Said area. After receiving reports from the public, Transportation Agency officers and Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officers immediately arrived at the location to manage traffic and control vehicles to reduce the congestion," he said, Monday (6/1).

He explained that the event had obtained a permit from the police for a public gathering. However, the Jakarta Transportation Agency had not received any coordination from the event organizers regarding traffic and parking arrangements to anticipate the high number of visitors. Budi believes coordination with the Transportation Agency is crucial before the event takes place.

"With coordination, the Transportation Agency can prepare parking pockets, place officers, arrange and engineer traffic, and anticipate potential vehicle congestion around the event location, and the Transportation Agency also recommends using public transportation to the event location," he explained.

According to him, this step is crucial to reduce the use of private vehicles and minimize the impact on traffic around the event location.

Going forward, Budi continued, his team wants to ensure officers are present at every roadside problem and respond quickly to public reports.

"Therefore, we also urge all event organizers to coordinate with the Transportation Agency from the start so that anticipatory measures can be prepared optimally and public mobility can be maintained," he appealed.
